August poetry postcard #2
August Poetry Postcard Festival. The first graphic is my scratchy penmanship on a yellow pad. I’m using the magazine clippings for prompts (this one was also inspired by a turquoise building with an orange door on the first poetry card I received) and I am writing quickly. It’s OK to judge my messy script.
Since my brief free writes usually give me too much to fit on the card, I pare it down when I transcribe it to the card. It could be cheating. I think it makes the cards second drafts.
I’m pleased with these so far. I haven’t been writing productively in a while, and I think I’m getting poems that I can work with. Yay! This one went all the way to Vancouver, Washington.

Great poem! I love slurping the soup, even mentioning soup! Soup is..soup!
We’re not supposed to revise? Shoot, even after I send off the poem, I revise and revise.
I love seeing your handwriting. It makes the post much more personal.
I love this…….
