There are some things I’m excited about that I want to share with you.
Although it’s still quite chilly, Spring is finally here. Thank goodness. We have had six months of bad weather. It started snowing here in November when I was in Oregon, and it has been cruddy ever since.
One sure-sign of Spring is that the farm store 1/2-mile from my house opened on Wednesday. Very exciting!
We purchased a CSA at the farm this year. We have been talking about doing this for years, but we never managed to research it and choose a farm and get going in time. When we learned that this farm, so close to us, was offering CSAs this year we knew right away this was the moment to do it. Here’s info about the CSA.
I have high hopes for some culinary and poetic inspiration. I have never been good at staying in touch — really in touch — with the physical environment around me (unless complaining about the weather counts) and what it yields. It will be fun to learn what’s available and when and what I can do with it — and, of course, involve the boys. This is going to be such a good thing.
My graduate class is finishing up. Monday is our last session. It has been wonderful. I have written some poems I wouldn’t otherwise written, and I have been reading about poets I hadn’t known much about. We’ve had great discussions in class, and though I haven’t sorted it all out for sure, I have more of a sense of some of the options for future study.
I’m working on a fun poetry project with a couple pals. I’ll be able to fill you in soon.
I have been working for 10 weeks. Can you believe it? I’m having a truly wonderful time. I spend my days reading (research) and writing. My brain feels so happy to be in a creative, casual workplace. It’s wonderful to be able to spend time brainstorming and thinking and connecting and re-imagining. The fact that it also involves the internet and Facebook/Twitter is just a bonus.
Jill and I (and some of our groupies) are going down to Kingston tomorrow to read with Jason (who is coming up from the city) and one other poet (whom I haven’t met yet). A poetry field trip! Yay!!
I am running again. And I’m starting this Mother’s Day, a holiday that’s always been a beast for me, with a 5K with a couple friends.
